UPDATED: We have issued a PRESS RELEASE FOR a PRESS CONFERENCE we are hosting in downtown Raleigh on Friday, July 19, 2019 at 10am. It will be at Bicentennial Mall on Jones Street across from the NC General Assembly. Full text is available here.

On Tuesday, July 9, NC Families For School Testing Reform released an Open Letter to State Superintendent Mark Johnson regarding the adoption of Istation for Kindergarten through Third Grade reading assessments in North Carolina. We oppose this change from Amplify’s mClass assessment and support the Superintendents from across the State who requested a year’s delay in implementing the change. We also ask for a full investigation into the process by which Istation was chosen. Our full letter and the list of over 350 organizations and individuals who co-signed it is available here. This letter represents tens of thousands of North Carolinians who stand with NC Families For School Testing Reform.
Stay tuned for possible further actions including contacting State Attorney General Josh Stein, State Auditor Beth Wood, NC General Assembly Members, and Governor Roy Cooper. For questions or media inquiry, please email Advocacy@nctestingreform.org.
The six page letter is signed by groups and individuals representing tens of thousands of North Carolinians.
