Why is testing reform needed?

You might remember taking standardized “bubble sheet” tests at school and think today’s testing is NO BIG DEAL.

However, the current testing practices for North Carolina public schools are having a NEGATIVE impact on student learning.

The AMOUNT of testing has skyrocketed, taking away more and more instruction time.

Plus, much of the testing provides NO direct benefit to children – many scores are only used to rate schools and teachers.
